ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVING CAR ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF PASSENGER

A combination of adverse weather and alcohol is a recipe for disaster. Driving on slick road conditions requires special skills that could be compromised if the driver is impaired. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police says such circumstances might have led to the death of a man in a recent British Columbia car accident.

A preliminary accident report indicates that the crash occurred shortly after midnight on a recent Thursday morning. Reportedly, a 28-year old Langley driver was southbound when he veered across the centre and entered the northbound traffic lanes. This resulted in a collision in which a northbound car smashed into the passenger side of his vehicle.

Both drivers suffered injuries that were declared not to be life threatening, and paramedics transported them to a medical facility. However, a 24-year-old man who was a passenger in the car that crossed the centre line did not survive the crash. His death was pronounced at the accident scene. Mounties reported their suspicion that the driver deemed responsible was under the influence of alcohol.

The surviving family members of the man who died in this car accident can pursue financial relief through the British Columbia judicial system. They can file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the car in which their loved one was a passenger. Proving negligence could be challenging, but retaining the services of an experienced personal injury lawyer can help. A seasoned lawyer can provide the necessary advice and support to pursue recovery of financial and emotional damages. The court will consider documented claims for the expenses related to end-of-life expenses and other damages before entering a monetary judgment.
