CAR ACCIDENT INVOLVING SEMI-TRUCK CAUSES SERIOUS INJURIES

Michael Golden Law Corporation Dec. 1, 2016

Road accidents that involve large trucks often result in severe injuries or fatalities. The sheer size of a semi-truck is enough to crush any passenger vehicle, and the chances of survival of occupants are slim. After a recent British Columbia car accident involving a semi-truck, one person suffered serious injuries.

According to an accident report, the crash occurred in Delta shortly before midday on a recent Wednesday. The accident investigation is ongoing, with investigators working on determining why one or both vehicles crossed into the lanes of oncoming traffic. The collision was between a van that was travelling west and an eastbound semi-truck.

A spokesperson for the Delta police reported that the person who drove the van suffered serious injuries. A medical helicopter rushed the victim to a hospital. The operator of the big rig suffered no more than minor injuries. Authorities said the road remained closed for about seven hours to clear accident debris and diesel fuel.

Depending on the circumstances that led to a car accident, injured victims may have viable personal injury claims to seek recovery of damages. Typically, civil lawsuits may be filed to pursue financial relief. However, the burden to establish negligence will be on the plaintiff who will have to show that another party’s negligence led to the crash that caused the injuries and resulted in financial and emotional damages. Once that occurs, the British Columbia court can adjudicate documented claims and enter a monetary judgment. Proving negligence can be challenging, and the experience of a skilled personal injury lawyer ease the process.
