British Columbia crash injures 1

Authorities in British Columbia say that speeding and dangerous driving were to blame for a two-car collision that left one person inured and two luxury automobiles wrecked. The car accident took place on Aug. 23 in West Vancouver.

Police arriving at the accident scene were told by witnesses that the driver of a Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG was travelling at a high rate of speed and passing other road users in a dangerous manner before the crash. The 48-year-old man behind the wheel of the Mercedes is thought to have lost control of his vehicle prior to striking the rear of an Audi R8.

Emergency response personnel were relieved to find that two boys, who had been rear seat passengers in the Mercedes, were unharmed, but the woman behind the wheel of the Audi complained of neck pain and was transported by ambulance to a medical facility. Police issued the Mercedes driver with a 24-hour driving ban and a 30-day licence suspension. The two vehicles involved sustained severe damage in the collision, and some observers felt that repair bills could easily reach six figures.

Accidents on the roads of British Columbia kill or injure hundreds of people each year. Some of these accidents are unavoidable, and they may be caused by mechanical failure or poor weather conditions. However, many others are the result of drivers who are intoxicated, distracted or behaving recklessly. These negligent motorists could face civil lawsuits in addition to criminal sanctions, and a personal injury lawyer may bring a lawsuit against them on behalf of those who are negatively affected by the incidents. Through pursuing litigation, the lawyer could seek compensation for an accident victim's expenses, property damage and ost income if the accident leaves them unable to work for some time.
