1 DEAD, 1 IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER BRITISH COLUMBIA ACCIDENT

Michael Golden Law Corporation June 18, 2014

A two-vehicle accident in British Columbia left one person dead and one in serious condition on the afternoon of June 9, authorities reported. The accident occurred in Kamloops just north of Rayleigh on Highway 5. The deceased driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The man was reportedly travelling north in his red pickup truck when a southbound dark blue pickup truck carrying four people crossed the centreline into his path. The vehicles collided, and the impact sent the red truck into a roadside ditch and ejected the contents of the other truck, which included sleeping bags, blankets and a cooler, onto the road.

Four ambulances arrived at the scene to transport the four occupants of the dark blue truck to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. One of the occupants of the truck remained hospitalized in serious condition, but the other three occupants have been released.

Investigators said that they had ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the accident. A traffic analyst was called in to determine the cause. It has been noted that side roads and roadway curvatures have been contributing factors in several Yellowhead Highway accidents in the past five years.

Grieving family members often struggle with funerary expenses and other financial damages following fatal car accidents in which their loved ones are killed. Some families contact personal injury lawyers for advice on seeking compensation for these and other damages through a wrongful death suit if another driver’s negligence or recklessness caused the death of their loved one.
